"Let every individual and institution now think and act as a responsible trustee of Earth, seeking choices in ecology, economics and ethics that will provide a sustainable future, eliminate pollution, poverty and violence, awaken the wonder of life and foster peaceful progress in the human adventure."
- John McConnell, founder of International Earth Day

RIGHT NOW, and then again tomorrow and then again the next day and on it goes day after day,
1/2 OF THE WORLD lives on LESS THAN 2 DOLLARS each day.

Psalm 27:4
One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.
Do all you can and don't worry about the odds against you. Wield the miracle of life's energy, never worrying whether we fail, concerned only that whether we fail or succeed we do so with all our might. That's all we need to know to feel certain that all our force of diligent effort is worth our while on Earth.

Easter Day-only in the Midwest

snowing in the afternoon on the last day of March, and then sunny to melt the newly fallen snow....

Easter Morning

When I look at these photos I can't help but notice how tall Ve and Tuki are getting...Mim has only grown an inch or two since she first came home, so I think she is as tall as she is going to get, much to her dismay.

Easter bunny was good to them, and then off to church in which we were ushering today...busy busy..now off to Uncle W for more egg hunting. We also went to my friend Pam's farm yesterday and the bunny left presents for them there too.
Tuki has a piece of gum in her mouth as you can tell by looking closely....and she is sporting a new haircut...she likes it short.

Spring Sightings

In the last few days I have seen:
American Robins
Sandhill Cranes
Geese migrating (couldn't tell the species, I know that some were Canada Geese)
Eastern Chipmunks out of hibernation
American Kestrels on telephone lines
and
major melting of the snow

Spring is in the air.....

Mt Olympus Fun

Mt Olympus Spring Break fun. We (me, Mim, Ve and Tuki) vacationed for 2 /12 days with Uncle J and cousin N at this fun filled Theme Park. Only down side was the outdoor water park (for obvious reasons), and the outdoor theme park (big roller coasters) was also not open for obvious reasons. The outdoor go-karts were and we had a blast with them. We decided that if the price wasn't too steep we may run down for a day this summer just to experience the outdoor parks to their fullest since we only live about 80 miles away. My friend B and her two kids (our camping buddies and long time friend) joined us on Thursday and then this am we all ate at Paul Bunyun's for a large breakfast. yum yum

Tuki, N, Mim and L in the lazy river.
 another shot of them
Uncle J, N, Mim, Ve and Tuki in line for the go-karts. Ve was scared at first but she turned into a little speed demon.I loved the go-karts best too.
 Ve in the lazy river
Ve, Tuki, N and Mim on the indoor roller coaster...another favorite
the trio outdoors enjoying the much anticipated spring weather
the trio on the moser - they went up and up and down down quickly
on the bunk beds in the room we all shared..it worked out real well!!
Tuki on the tea cups - I tried it once with her...too much for me and I like rides!!

Kate Middleton

So the students selected to be a famous person in their 3rd grade wax museums from a list provided. The older black women on the list were Rosa Parks and Hariet Tubman, but Ve didn't want to dress as an old woman or a black woman, so Princess (white Kate it was) I would like to suggest to the teachers to allow for more modern strong young black women so the young black woman of today will want to pick them...like say Michelle Obama or Oprah, or Rhianna, or say Beyonce anyone of those would have been better since there was a Taylor Swift, Kate Middleton, etc. But I haven't figured how do it yet without offending anyone..so here is Kate, if you touch her she will come to life and tell you about her life.

Canoecopia is a hit!!

We went to Canoeacopia with the specific purpose of purchasing a tandem kayak to match with my one- man recreation kayak that I used so many times before kids. We found it and now it is waiting to be picked up once the weather breaks. We went with the orange one since it is a year older model/cheaper but exactly the same as the red one that the girls were sitting in. I think I will hit up Fleet Farm for a cheapo one-man that I will attach to the tandem, then we will be ready. Me and Tuki in the tandem, Mim in the free one-man and Ve in attached one-man. KAYAKING HERE WE COME........The last time I went was when Tuki was 7 months old and she didn't like it!!
I have reserved a camp site over the 4th and I plan to bring the kayaks!!!
