"Let every individual and institution now think and act as a responsible trustee of Earth, seeking choices in ecology, economics and ethics that will provide a sustainable future, eliminate pollution, poverty and violence, awaken the wonder of life and foster peaceful progress in the human adventure."
- John McConnell, founder of International Earth Day

RIGHT NOW, and then again tomorrow and then again the next day and on it goes day after day,
1/2 OF THE WORLD lives on LESS THAN 2 DOLLARS each day.

Psalm 27:4
One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.
Do all you can and don't worry about the odds against you. Wield the miracle of life's energy, never worrying whether we fail, concerned only that whether we fail or succeed we do so with all our might. That's all we need to know to feel certain that all our force of diligent effort is worth our while on Earth.

More Ramblings

I have been in contact with Ve's escort, GR, and so far everything is progressing as hoped....BTW I, along with a friend will be picking up Ve at a nearby state's major airport terminal. They will be arriving at 11:55 pm Friday night. My plan is to work Friday, then right after school take off to the airport that is located 4 hours away. It will be busy the next few days.

Today, and then again last night, I have had symptoms of the flu. I spent much time in the bathroom last night. Tuks was allowed to watch as much TV as she wanted (certainly didn't win Mother of the year award last night) as I laid resting on the couch between my trips to the porcelain god. After school today we will be picking up my niece N and she will be spending the night so I will have two girls to get to their proper schools tomorrow morning.

I am also finishing up a long term project/unit with my 8th graders so I don't think I can afford taking any time off until next week, otherwise I might have taken off today since I am feeling so under the weather. In addition mid-quarter grades are due this week so I need to finish grading all current labs and activities....

Ok, enough ramblings for now, LOL......................

TukiLogic on Snow

So this morning while shoveling the 7+ inches of snow, Tuks was playing in it with gusto. While in her play, she starts a conversation...

Tuks: "It's a match!"

Me: while quickly shoveling, yet jealously observing her have fun asks "What's a match?"

Tuks: states "I am in the snow," then starts singing to the tune of Jingle Bells, Dashing through the snow"

Me: "Yes, you're right it is a match" and once again silently marveling at the new connections she makes on a daily basis

Ramblings

This is my last week of school, then I am on FMLA adoption leave until January 9th in which I return half days in hopes of transitioning Ve into school, and then January 23rd I return back to work full time. I hope I am giving her a decent amount of time to somewhat adjust. Right now I don't think I can afford to take more days since I have no idea when Mim will be coming home and I need some days left for her transition.

I want to make it clear that I am over the moon with excitement that Ve will be home this Friday, but I also have to admit I have been greatly stressed in getting everything arranged for her homecoming. I had planned on a Feb-April homecoming, so the last few weeks have been quite a happy/crazy surprise. Let's be honest, when can anyone EVER remember an adoption finalizing sooner than you had anticipated....almost never, but now Ve' homecoming is the wonderful exception.

There is also talk of anywhere from 3 - 12 inches of snow falling tonight...yeah I know I wish we could all be so accurate and still get paid for it. The students were a buzz today with excitement in hopes of a snow day tomorrow. I for one, do not want one. I have much to do before I will feel calm enough to take 4 full weeks off and then 2 weeks of half days off. Anyway excuse my ramblings, just getting some things off my mind...OH, and I can't forget, I am now a firm believer a 3 year old is just a miniature 8th grader. Stature is shorter, but the attitude is just as BIG!!!!

Josi - please pray for her family

Her family was just a week away from picking her up from Guatemala, their beautiful 5 year old daughter Josi will never be coming home. They found out on Thursday night that she was stabbed to death in her home along with her foster family. The family are devastated.

Killings of women and children for unknown reasons, is unfortunately, an all too common occurrence in Guatemala, usually with no justice to follow.

Please keep this family, the relatives of the foster family, and the justice system of Guatemala in your prayers.

Three Down...

Three nights in a row Tuks stayed in her room until I "excused" her in the morning. Our new home rule, I need to excuse her from her room after a night's sleep just like she asks to be excused from the dinner table. AAAAHHHH the third problem solved, and good night sleeps on top of it, or at least until Ve is home.....next week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
