I have felt the need to keep this blog low key at this time of crisis in Haiti, almost like taking a moment of silence. I don't want people to forget the people of Haiti, yet life is still going on here on the Tundra. So, I wanted to write some fun moments about the girls since this is also a journal of their life.

So without further ado, a tale involving VerbalVe and TukiLogic.

On the way to church this Sunday, the two little ones were quiet in the back seat. Tuki then broke the silence with the following question:

Tuki: "Mom, how does the snow get in the sky?"

Me: I of course proceed to tell her about the water cycle...I was on the part about when it is warm, the snow melts into water..evaporation etc., etc.,

Then all of a sudden..Ve interrupts with

Ve: "yah, then we get to wear skirts"

Tuki and I turned and looked at her, wondering where in the world she got skirts from the water cycle. I know she was referring to the warm summer, but still...

These two girls could not be MORE different in the way they approach life and how they think of it. One is contemplating the water cycle while the other focuses on skirt wearing.....yet they are very close. Even now as I am typing this, Ve and Tuki are sitting on the couch together (side by side) under the covers, at the invite of Ve asking Tuki to join her...

Now on to Musing Mim.

Tomorrow marks the 3 month home period. She is amazingly kind, intrinsically motivated, stubborn and likes to be in charge. We have had our rounds, but nothing too bad considering her age at which she joined our family. Mim and Tuks lock horns OFTEN. I know it is because Tuki is use to being in charge (just me and her for so long) and Mim is also use to being in charge, since she was the eldest at the O. Neither one likes the other to tell them what to do, so there is much squabbling between the two. I will be happy once these two get their sisterhood groove going.

A few weeks ago, Mim said "I love church". I then asked her, "did you go to church in Haiti", She said yes. She loves church on Sundays and AWANA during the week days. She even reads the bible (kids version) every night. She had asked me for one many weeks ago. One day we were talking about Jesus and how he is everywhere. She then asks "is Jesus in Haiti?". I told her "yes he is also in Haiti!..."

She is also in her final week of basketball. She is not only a really good player, but she takes it VERY serious...it has been fun to watch her. Our town runs a program called "Hoops" that kids can join, and essentially play basketball on a league for 6+ months. I think I am going to enroll her this summer to see how far she can take her BB passion.

She is doing well in school, yes, below grade level, but catching on quickly...
Her English is amazing, just amazing....much further along at three months than I had hoped...
