I placed Mim into 5th grade upon her homecoming and she has been fine with this UNTIL her birthday. She now has real awareness of the fact that she is 2 years older than her classmates. Last night I talked with her about this and I told her if it was really bothering her, I would have her placed into 7th grade instead of 6th grade next year. I also told her that it was her decision, and naturally we talked about why she had been placed into 5th grade etc.,. I shared that if we placed her into 7th grade, she would still be 1 year behind, and she would have more homework, but closer to her age group. She told me tonight that she wanted to go to 7th grade next year.
Thank goodness I talked with our guidance counselor today and asked how we would go about this...it sounds like all I have to do is let them know..our advantage is that Mim will be going to my junior high next year so we will be in the same school for the next 3 years, plus we have a strong ESL program since we have many Hmong immigrants in our town.
"Let every individual and institution now think and act as a responsible trustee of Earth, seeking choices in ecology, economics and ethics that will provide a sustainable future, eliminate pollution, poverty and violence, awaken the wonder of life and foster peaceful progress in the human adventure."

RIGHT NOW, and then again tomorrow and then again the next day and on it goes day after day,
1/2 OF THE WORLD lives on LESS THAN 2 DOLLARS each day.
1/2 OF THE WORLD lives on LESS THAN 2 DOLLARS each day.
Psalm 27:4
One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.
One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.
Do all you can and don't worry about the odds against you. Wield the miracle of life's energy, never worrying whether we fail, concerned only that whether we fail or succeed we do so with all our might. That's all we need to know to feel certain that all our force of diligent effort is worth our while on Earth.
