Today Mim turns 13. We had a discussion about birthdays the other day. She thought that birthdays were only celebrated once in a person's lifetime and this year was her year to celebrate. I told her that birthdays are celebrated every year. She then shared that her birthday had never been celebrated before, AND she didn't know her birth date until I told her (on her birth certificate).
I emailed her teachers to let as many people know that it was her birthday so that as many people possible would wish her a happy day. She opened gifts from me this am, we will have a small intimate celebration tonight and then a full out family celebration on Memorial Day.
